Improve your fundraising by:
Thinking Big.
Listening More.
This week I would like to share with you two ways that you can
dramatically improve your fundraising results. These ideas
are all about mindset and how you approach your fundraising work.
Thinking Big.
First,
even if you work for a relatively small nonprofit, don't get caught
in the trap of thinking small. Joe Garecht of The
Fundraising Authority offers insights on this
powerful idea:
If there's one thing I don't like, it's thinking small. Far too
many people spend their time and energy thinking small. That's true in
the wider world, and it's true in fundraising.
There are a lot of fundraisers in the world - some professional,
some volunteer. Some work on staff, some consult, some
are on boards, some do it as a favor to a friend.
People come at fundraising from all different angles... but
there's one thing that 99% of fundraisers have in common --
most of us think small-scale.
Listening More.
Kathy Alm, Executive Director at Little Bit Therapeutic Riding
Center, was able to help grow her nonprofit by matching people's
talents and desires with the needs of the organization.
In this video from Movie Mondays she gives two specific examples
of how listening helped her organization go from a budget
of $280,000 to 1.4 million. They are now serving
three times as many people as a result and are assured to continue
making a difference for years to come.
