How to Fundraise for Haiti Relief Efforts
I've been thinking a lot lately about the 80/20 rule, applying
it to my life and plans for this year. Basically the rule says
that 20% of your efforts produce 80% of results.
In our feature article, Marc Pitman provides some background
on this concept and how to apply it to your fundraising. You also
get a free worksheet to help you evaluate your previous fundraising
efforts using these ideas.
Finally, I've included in this month's newsletter a link to an
article about fundraising efforts for Haiti in the wake of the
earthquake.
The Pareto Principle: The 80/20 Rule for Fundraising

Free Tool: 80/20 Fundraising
I've created a simple tool to help you evaluate your previous
fundraising activities.
There are two pages to this worksheet:
1. A spreadsheet to summarize all your fundraisers
2. Instructions and discussion questions
When you see a list of your fundraisers all on one page, I think
some truths will become even clearer -- which fundraisers raise
the most money and which are a drain on time and resources. Then
most importantly, decide how you will reduce unproductive fundraising
efforts and increase focus on the ones that are most effective.

of Haiti.
Britt Bravo recently published a great article with a list of
resources. I'd like to add a few tips for fundraising, especially
if you are volunteering to raise money for an organization you
are not directly working for.
