One of the best ways to discover new fundraising strategies or
improve our skills is to "learn by example." If you can take some
lessons from another fundraiser's experience it can really help
you achieve greater success and sidestep common mistakes.
Example Donation Request Letters
Many people find it helpful to look at example fundraising letters
when trying to write their own. It can give you ideas for
how to format a letter, phrases for asking for donations or in general
stir your creativity.
Regular
readers my recall that I've been working on an update to the original
"Sample Letters" guide that was first published in 2005.
I've added many new letters and more than doubled the sample sentences
& phrases section (the first edition included 138 sample phrases;
now there's 321!)
In this edition we have an all new step by step system
that's not just letter writing, but also planning and preparation,
mailing lists and more.
On December 4, 2008 the immediate download

Examples from the Recent Elections

lot of great tips in these two articles: Part
1 - the Campaign and Part
2 - the Internet
There are quite a few other articles and blog posts on the web
that are relevant for fundraiser and non-profit volunteers and
staff. Here's a list of 33
Links to Wrap Up Election Season that I recently compiled.
Examples of NonProfit Websites
The
very basic foundation for any online fundraising effort is a great
website. Even when you rely on traditional fundraising methods
a web presence supports your efforts.
When new prospective donors or even previous givers get your
fundraising letter they are likely to go online to find
information before writing a check.
At a recent conference I gave a presentation about online fundraising
and showed several websites during the session. Here's a
listing and description of them: Example
