As you know September has been a difficult month for many people here
in the USA. If you or your family has been effected by recent hurricanes
(now including Ophelia) please know that my heart and prayers are with
you.
Many of the hurricane survivors have come to live here in Texas at
least temporarily. Some have even ventured as far north as my town of
Wichita Falls, which is about 2 hours north of Dallas. Local apartment
complexes have given free rent, usually for at least 2 months, and the
agencies here are helping to find people assistance.
Last week we heard that several thousand survivors were going to be
coming here from the shelters in Dallas. However those plans were later
put on hold -- and for a positive reason. The Red Cross and other agencies
have been able to find permanent housing in the Dallas area more quickly
than anticipated.
Donations, food drives and fundraising events continue to help those
effected by this disaster. Have you been involved with a particularly
well done fundraiser for hurricane relief? If so I'd be interested to
hear about it...feel free to email or post on the forum.

** Get Your Fundraising News More Often **
I've been writing the Step By Step Fundraising Monthly
Newsletter nearly since starting the site in November 2003. (Hint:
if you'd like to see the old issues, they're archived
here.) For me and perhaps many of the subscribers, a monthly schedule
works out pretty well.
However if you'd like to get more fundraising news & ideas, there's
two ways that you can do this.
1. By Email:
First you can get an email update each time a new article is posted
on the website by signing up for a handy little service called FeedBlitz.
This is a separate email system that will automatically send one email
each day articles are posted.
So if there's 5 new articles added in the same day, you'll just get
one email to let you know about all of the new articles. On the other
hand if there's no new articles for any given day, you won't get an
email.
One thing that I should mention is that the notification emails will
come from FeedBlitz and not Step By Step Fundraising or my name, so
just be watching for "FeedBlitz" in the from address and subject line.
All you need to do is add your email to this list. You'll get an email
from FeedBlitz with a password and a link to confirm your subscription.
2. Online Services / Feedreaders
Do you use My Yahoo or My MSN? You can add custom content to these
pages including "feeds" from websites like mine. A feed is just an updated
list of most recent articles on the website. When you add the Step by
Step Fundraising Feed to your My Yahoo or My MSN homepage, it will add
a small box that contains the 5 most recent headlines. Then if something
interests you, you can just click through.
Simply click on one of the buttons below to get online notifications:
** Recent News & Notes **
In the past few weeks I've added several new articles or short posts
about grants, chocolate bar fundraisers and fundraising tips - just
to name a few.
To find out more visit the news
section of this site.
That's it for this month's Fundraising Newsletter. I hope you find
these resources helpful and as always, if you have any questions, just
let me know.
