Have you ever used the Entertainment Book? It’s a huge book of coupons that will save you hundreds of dollars on dining out, movies, hotels and more. It’s available for most major metro cities in the US.
When I lived in Dallas we used the Entertainment Book to save lots of money dining out — my husband and I would go out to eat 1-2 times a week, and the coupons really came in handy. It was especially good for trying out new restaurants. Most of the coupons are buy one entree get one free, or 50% off, so we could try out new places pretty cheaply.
The Entertainment book is easy to sell as a fundraiser because it is so valuable. The best time to sell the books as a fundraiser is August to December.

If you’ve never used the Entertainment book before, now you can try it out for yourself and decide if you’d like to use the book as a fall fundraiser. If you reserve a 2006 Entertainment book, you’ll get a FREE 2005 Book.

In this interview Marc revealed some of his strategies for success:
The “Get REAL” system for asking for donations
Strategies for recruiting and developing a strong board
Tips on how to make new contacts
The formula for knowing if someone is a good prospect
How to know how much money to ask for
How to ask for money without feeling like you’re begging!
How to turn a one time gift into an annual pledge
….And much more.
You can listen to this free audio seminar online or download to listen at your computer or MP3 player. There’s also a handly little worksheet to help you keep up with all the great information presented.

Volunteers are quite often the lifeblood of a non profit organization. They are a resource for staffing events, making calls, working mailings and many other responsiblities. Volunteers are also a vital link between the organization and the community.
Non profit managers spend much time recruiting, motivating and managing volunteers. If you’d like to know more about working with your volunteers, I highly recommend Thomas W. McKee’s newsletter and website Volunteer Power. I have published some of Thomas’s articles in the past and I continue to be impressed by the knowledge and insights he shares.
When volunteers or others that you manage present a problem situation to you, what do you do? The suggested response featured in this article could be a lifesaver for you… Volunteer Power Newsletter June 2005

Students at a Durham, North Carolina high school raised over $6,000 for the American Red Cross to help tsunami victims.
Instead of writing term papers or giving oral presentations, the students in teacher Brian McDonald’s civics class organized a teacher-student volleyball game, waited tables at Golden Corral restaurant and worked the concession stands during plays.
One of the great things about this effort was that it was organized within the classroom. The teacher made a purposeful effort to help students learn about volunteerism, social responsibility and compassion by creating thier own fundraising projects. Students showed much creativity in organizing a teacher-student volleyball game. What a great fundraising idea, to involve students, teachers and parents.
